History of Conestoga Valley
Conestoga Valley School District named for the Conestoga Creek that partially borders the district on on it’s north western border. Also sharing the name with the historic covered Conestoga Wagons with their trademark Canvas bow roofs to protect from weather and bowed floors to prevent goods from shifting while traversing hillsides.
In the 70’s & 80’s Leola, PA was home to Meadowbrook Farmers Market. Owned by a local Mennonite family the market featured baked goods and Lancaster County hand made by local craftsmen and artists. The Market was built on a farm whose original barn was converted into an Antique market where vendors setup shop right in the original first floor horse stalls. Today the original Farmers Market building has been subdivided in to a number of shops and doctors offices. In recent years a food market has reoccupied the end of the original market building. You can once again purchase Amish baked goods, locally butchered meats and produce.
